Michael Dan Ford, 68, of 831 Holly Springs Road Inman, SC,went to be with his Lord and Savior and those family members who have gone before, Sunday, June 25th, after succumbing to a recent illness, as he was surrounded by loved ones at his home.
Michael was born in Spartanburg, S.C. on June 27, 1948, a son of the late Mary Evelyn Ballenger Ford and George Christopher Ford.
He was a dedicated member of Little Mtn. Baptist Church, a self taught musician, and loved to sing and garden and fish.
He served in Germany in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, and retired from Sara Lee.
He is survived by a daughter; Ashley Prater and son in law, Darryl Prater of Landrum, granddaughters; Sarah Prater, Morgan Prater, grandsons; Darryl Prater II, JaQuan Ford, sisters; Christine Drake, Ann Parker and husband Rev. John Parker, Nancy Fowler and husband Daniel, brothers; Jerry Ford and wife Linda, JR Ford and wife Rosalee, and Chet Ford and wife Pat. He had many nieces and nephews he loved dearly. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by brothers, Ralph Ford, Carroll Ford, and Dean Ford.
The family is at their respective homes and will receive friends Wednesday 2:00 until 3:00 at Little Mtn. Baptist Church. A memorial service will follow the visitation at 3:00 with Rev. Travis Parker, Rev. Ansel Norris and Rev. Doug Godfrey officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Little Mountain Baptist Church, Building Fund, 1302 Little Mountain Road, Wellford, SC 29385.
