Mrs. Merlice McDurmont Daley
Inman, SC---Mrs. Merlice McDurmont Daley, 93, of 111 Cypress Drive went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, May 20th, 2009 at Mary Black Memorial Hospital. Born in Coffee County, Alabama on December 1, 1915, the daughter of the late T.C. and Rebecca Snellgrove McDurmont and was the wife of the late Robbie Lee "Bob" Daley having celebrated 57 years of marriage.
She was a Cub Scout leader for 25 years, a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church in Inman where she proudly served as Past Superintendent of Sunday School, Sunday School teacher, and was also presented as Mother of the Year from her church. She also attended Enoree United Methodist Church.
Merlice Daley was a loving homemaker, neighborhood maker, church maker and smile maker. Literally generations have been taught by her example and touched by her kindness.
She is survived by one daughter, Joan Daley Turner of Roebuck; one son, Tim Daley and his wife Janice D. of Enoree; four grandchildren and five great grandchildren. She was predeceased by son-in-law, Lou Turner and fifteen brothers and sisters.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, May 23, 2009 from 12:30- 2:00 PM at Aldersgate United Methodist Church. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 PM with Rev. Bill Bynum and Rev. Burton Ott officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Memory Gardens, Greer, SC.
