Melissa Jane Blackwell Benfield, 49, of 820 Inman Road, Inman, SC, passed away Tuesday, October 21, 2014 at her home. Melissa was born in Spartanburg, SC on May 14, 1965, a daughter of the late Janie (Dameron) Searcy and Franklin John Blackwell. She was the wife of Gary Benfield and was a homemaker. In addition to her husband Melissa is survived by a daughter, Bridgett Dameron, two sons Jerry Wayne Benfield, Terry Benfield, all of Inman; three sisters, Dawn Blackwell, of Landrum; Wendy Gilbert, of Travelers Rest; Nancy Blackwell, of Wellford and 5 grandchildren. She was predeceased by a daughter Christine Michelle Benfield. The family is at the home and will receive friends Saturday, October 25, 2014 from 1:00 - 2:00 PM at Seawright Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society, 154 Mile Stone Way, Greenville, SC 29615.
