Mazie Lee Thompson Ballew Peace, 87, formerly of 12 G Street, Inman, South Carolina, passed away Sunday, September 12, 2021, at Golden Age Nursing Home, Inman, South Carolina. Mazie was born in Spartanburg, South Carolina, on August 6, 1934, a daughter of the late George E. "Dick" Thompson and Joyce Johnson Thompson. She was the widow of William Walter "Cricket" Peace and was first married to the late James Sylvester "Bud" Ballew. Mrs. Peace was a member of Inman First Free Will Baptist and a retired employee with Inman Mills Saybrook Plant.
Mazie is survived by two daughters, Elaine McCravy, of Inman, South Carolina; Tammey Layton and her husband, Kevin, of Roebuck, South Carolina; a son, Danny James Ballew, Sr., of Rock Hill, South Carolina; nine grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and spouses, Mrs. Peace was predeceased by a sister, Debra Thompson.
Visitation will be held from 2:30 PM until 3:30 PM on Tuesday, September 14, 2021, at Seawright Funeral Home in Inman, South Carolina. Graveside Services will follow at 4:00 PM on Tuesday, September 14, 2021, at Holston Creek Baptist Church Cemetery in Inman, South Carolina, conducted by, Rev. Jeff Cochran.
The family is at the home of the daughter and son-in-law, Tammey and Kevin Layton, 701 Harrison Road, Roebuck, South Carolina, 29376.
