Maxie Dwight Cantrell

Maxie Dwight Cantrell, 77, of Cowpens, South Carolina, passed away on Thursday, August 17, 2023, at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home. 

Born in Cowpens, South Carolina on June 18, 1946, a son of the late Ruth (Willis) Cantrell and Willie Abb Cantrell and was the husband of the late Annie Geneva (Brown) Cantrell.

He was a member of Trinity Fellowship in Cowpens, South Carolina, served in the United States Army, worked as a welder with Best Machinery and was an ordained minister.  

He is survived his daughter, Cindy Cantrell Caruso and her husband Paul; one brother, Olin Cantrell; brother-in-law and caregiver, Jeff Brown; Brother-in-law, Mike Brown, two sisters-in-law, Peggy Alexander and Sue Taylor; two grandchildren, Zachery Dwight Cantrell (Robbie) and Melissa Cantrell Marr (Jonathan); two great grandchildren, Kendall Marr and Desmond Marr; along with many nieces and nephews and Lori Harris whom he thought of as a daughter.  

In addition to his parents and his wife, he was also predeceased by one daughter, Pamela Brown Bruce; one son, Darren Dwight Cantrell; one grandson, Nicholas Bruce; one sister, Imogene Mitchem; four brothers, Jim, Bob, Harold and Ken Cantrell.  

A Memorial Service will be held at 4:00 PM on Sunday, August 20, 2023 at Trinity Fellowship, 4281 Old Georgia Hwy, Cowpens, South Carolina 29330 with Pastor Mike McConnell and Pastor Tracy Stewart officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Spartanburg Regional Hospice, PO Box 2624, Spartanburg, SC 29304.
