Mrs. Mary Carole Hammett Reid, 71, of 107 Pineview Drive, Inman went home to be with the Lord on Monday, December 15th, 2008 at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.

Mrs. Reid was born in Inman, SC on October 31, 1937, the daughter of the late William Harold and Margaret (McCutcheon) Hammett and was the loving wife of Marion Reid having celebrated 48 years of marriage. In addition to her husband she is survived by 1 daughter: Melissa Sarratt and husband William of Greer, 1 son: Stuart Reid and wife: Missy of Inman, 1 sister: Anna Margaret Lawson and husband Ken of Inman and 7 grandchildren.
Mrs Reid was a graduate of Chapman High School and Columbia College. She retired from teaching in public schools after 31 years, having taught in Bradenton, Fl., Charlotte, NC, Green Creek Elementary and Polk Central in North Carolina.

She was a member of Inman Presbyterian Church where she was a member of the class of Ruth and the choir. She was also a member of the Inman Garden Club and the Women's Club of Inman.

The family is at the home and will receive friends Wednesday, 6-8 PM at Seawright Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at Inman Presbyterian Church at 3:00 PM on Thursday, December 18th, with Rev. Gordon Raynal, Rev Donnan Lawson and Dr. Henry Johnson officiating.

Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens , Inman, SC.
