Marvin C. Kaplin of Moore, SC but formerly of Webster, NY passed away on Thursday, June 13, 2024 at age 87. Marvin passed away surrounded by his family.

 He was the retired owner of Budget Refuse Service of Spartanburg Co., SC. 

 Marvin is predeceased by his domestic partner, Margorie McGee, of Carthage, NY; mother of his children, Joy Kaplin, of Webster; parents, Clarence and Florance Kaplin of Williamson. 

 He is survived by his children, Mark Kaplin, of Moore, SC, Guy Kaplin of Penfield; Todd Kaplin (Patty Van Houter), of Macedon, Michelle Boulter (Jeff) of Webster; 7 grandchildren, Katrina Kaplin, Josh Kaplin (Lauren), Victoria Kaplin (Ben), Tylor Grimes (Faith), Addie Green, Claire Kaplin and Griffin Boulter; 7 great-grandchildren, Kendall, Blair, Dahlia and Kasen Kaplin, Chloe, Bentley and Derek Green; siblings, Linda Shelton (Jim), of Greer, SC, Darwin Kaplin (Marge), Decatur, GA; several nieces, nephews, cousins. A special thank you to our home nurses, Kassandra Dube and Cindy Tercotte and the wonderful staff at Strong Hospital Palliative Care, Unit 1200. 

 Over Marvin’s lifetime he wore many hats; some of those hats included working at the Times Union, in car sales, as owner and operator of two gas stations, thoroughbred horse owner, and breeder, and finally as a retiree of his own refuse business in 2016. Whatever Marvin set out to do in his life, he did it with 110% enthusiasm and success.

 He was a proud supporter of Shriners Hospital for Children and a member of the Masonic Lodge ERAC 154. Marvin enjoyed car racing, hunting, fishing, traveling, and vehicle shopping (window only). He would spend his summers in Henderson Harbour, NY, and the fall and winter months in Tennessee and Lake Bowen, SC.

 Friends may call 4-7 PM Tuesday, June 25, with a Masonic Service at 6:30 PM, at Willard H. Scott Funeral Home, 12 South Ave., Webster. Graveside Service 11:00 AM Friday, June 28 at Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Inman, SC. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Shriners Hospital for Children, PO Box 1525, Ranson, WV 25438.
