Martin Robert Kimmons, 67, of 2321 Compton Bridge Rd. passed away Thursday, January 14, 2016 at Hospice of the Carolina Foothills in Landrum.
Born in Spartanburg on March 24, 1948, he was a son of the late Edith Mae (Martin) and Woodrow Robert Kimmons and was the husband of Mary Ann Waldmann Lemke Kimmons. He was a member of St. Margaret's Episcopal Church and the American Legion Post #45. Mr. Kimmons served in the United States Air Force as a military police sergeant during the Vietnam War. He retired as a deputy with the Spartanburg County Sheriff's Office, a private investigator at Kimmons and Wright Investigations, worked security at BMG in Duncan and then retired to long haul truck driving. In addition to his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Kimberley Williams (David) of Greensboro, GA; one son, Kenneth Kimmons (Amy) of Inman; one sister, Debra Miller of Inman along with seven grandchildren, Christian, Lucy-Kate and Rhys Williams, Ethan, Tommi and Mya Kimmons and Gracie Marcella and three great grandchildren, K.J. and Lucas Kimmons and Destini Weathers. He was predeceased by one brother, Johnny Kimmons.
A memorial service will be held at St. Margaret's Episcopal Church, 4180 Hwy 9 , Boiling Springs, at 3:00 PM on Sunday, January 17, 2016 with Rev. Allan Leonard officiating. Reception and visitation will follow the service at the church. Present and retired officers from Spartanburg County Sheriff's Office will serve as honorary escorts. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Margaret's Episcopal Church, 4180 Hwy. 9, Boiling Springs, SC 29316 or Hospice of the Carolina Foothills, 260 Fairwinds Rd., Landrum, SC 29356.
