Mrs. Marjorie Marcella Worthington Powell, 87, of Inman passed away Friday, October 3rd, 2008 at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.
Mrs. Powell was born in Knoxville, TN on September 24, 1921, the daughter of the late Joseph William and Vernell (Mays) Worthington and was the widow of Lawson Joseph Powell.
She is survived by 2 nieces: Donna Blake, Beverly Worley, 4 nephews: Brent Hawks, Ed Worthington, Ray Allen Proffitt, Larry Proffitt, several great nieces and nephews and several great, great nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by 2 sisters: Charlotte Proffitt and Helen Hawks.
She retired from teaching having taught 30 years at Cleveland Junior High School, was a member of the Delta Kappa Gamma and Beta Sigma Phi sororities and was a member of First Baptist Church of North Spartanburg,
Funeral services will be held at Seawright Funeral Chapel, Inman, SC, at 3:00 PM on Sunday, October 5th, with Dr Michael Hamlet officiating.
Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends Sunday 2-3 PM at Seawright Funeral Home.
