Marion Douglas "Pops" Smith, 79, entered heaven peacefully Monday, March 30, 2009 at his home in Florida. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Mattie Smith and the lovely mother of his children, Louise Smith Phillips. Marion is survived by his daughter Wanda Huntsinger and her husband Ray, daughter Lynn Pritchard and her husband Ray, son Ricky Smith and his wife Sandra, and Gary Day, whom he cherished as a son. Marion's grandchildren include Jonathan and Tyler Huntsinger, Samantha and Kemper Pritchard, Maranda Stacks, David and Jason Rhymer and his great grandchildren are Brice, Wiley, and Grady Rhymer. He is survived by sisters Mable Koon and Leila Campbell and predeceased by daughter Sharon Smith and brothers Harold "Bud" Smith, Joe Smith, Pug Smith, and Gene Smith. The family wishes to express their gratitude to members of the Sapphire Team with LifePath Hospice. Marion was a loving father, grandfather, husband and brother, enlisted in the Army for 13 years, dedicated for life. Visitation will be Thursday April 2 2009 from 6:00-8:00 at Seawright Funeral Home in Inman. A service to celebrate his life will also be held at Seawright Funeral Home on Friday, April 3 2009 at 11:00 AM, officiated by Rev Earl Hendrix and Rev Bobby Smith. The family will be at the home of Buster and Patsy Huntsinger, 1000 Melvin Hill Road, Campobello, SC 29322. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in memory of Marion D.
