Marion Wayne Reid, 89, of 107 Pineview Drive, Inman, SC, passed away Thursday, August 28, 2025, at the Upstate Community Hospice in Landrum.
Marion was born in Inman, SC on July 2, 1936, a son of the late Nettie (Blackwell) Reid and Crowell Reid. He was also predeceased by five brothers and a sister, Algae Reid, C.L. Reid, Marceille Reid Page, Marshall Reid, and Billy Reid.
He was the widower of Mary Carole (Hammett) Reid and was a member of Inman Presbyterian Church. After graduating from Chapman High School and Newberry College where he received Bachelor of Science Degree he retired as a school teacher having taught for over 39 years in the public school system in Bradenton, Florida, Charlotte, NC, and Polk Central in Polk County, NC. He was also former president of the Inman Seniors at Inman United Methodist Church and attended the Keen Club at Holston Creek Baptist Church and New Prospect Baptist Church where he was known for bringing his many different kinds of cakes.
Marion is survived by a daughter, Melissa Sarratt and husband William, of Greer, SC; a son, Stuart Reid and wife Missy, of Inman, SC, 6 grandchildren, Daniel Guffey, Jennifer Kauffman, Joshua Sarratt, Sarah Margaret Gouge, Mary Patrick Reid, Jason Sarratt, 8 great grandchildren, Anna Sarratt, Forrest Kauffman, Addison Sarratt, Kade Sarratt, Owen Sarratt, Ada Guffey, Nora Guffey and Tucker Guffey.
Public Visitation will be held 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Tuesday, September 2nd at Seawright Funeral Home in Inman, SC
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, September 3rd at Inman Presbyterian Church with Rev Beth Hoskins and Rev Joe Seay officiating.
Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Inman.
In addition to flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Upstate Community Hospice House, 260 Fairwinds Road, Landrum, SC 29356.
