Margaret Ruth Penland Stroup, 86, passed away Saturday, December 8, 2018 at Physical Rehab. & Wellness Center, Spartanburg, SC. Mrs. Stroup was born in Kingsport, TN on October 4, 1932 and was the daughter of the late Avery Homer and Mable Cora Kite Penland. She was the widow of Harold William Stroup. She had retired from textiles and was of the Baptist faith. She is survived by four sisters: Virginia O'Shield of Greenville, SC, Ruby Smith of Campobello, SC, Shirley Westbrook of Cherokee Springs, SC, Linda Gail Hayes and her husband James of Spartanburg and a number of nieces and nephews. Margaret was predeceased by a daughter, Judy Ann Elder and a sister, Betty Hall.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 11, 2018 at 2:00 PM in the Seawright Funeral Home Chapel conducted by Rev. Randell Blackman. The family will receive friends at the funeral home immediately after the services. Burial will be private in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens in Spartanburg, SC. The family will be at their respective homes.
