Margaret Elizabeth Long 4/3/1941 to 12/30/2024

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Margaret Elizabeth Long (Lowery), age 83, who peacefully departed this life on Monday, December 30,2024. Margaret passed away at home surrounded by loved ones and leaves behind a legacy of warmth, creativity, and kindness.

Born in St. Louis, Missouri, she is the eldest child of Joseph Lowery and Irene Lowery (Palmer). Margaret spent her life enriching the lives of those around her with her generous spirit. She was married to her beloved husband, John Long, for 39 wonderful years. Together, they built a life full of love, laughter, and cherished memories. Margaret is survived by her brother, Joseph Steven Lowery (Carol), her sister Nancy Wise (Jack), children; Laura Adamo (James), Anita Witt (Mark), Larry Thomas Wilson Jr. (Tina), stepson John Long (Julia), sixteen grandchildren, twenty-three great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. She is predeceased by her husband, John Long, parents, Joseph and Margaret Irene Lowery, sister, Josephine Carroll (Jack), and daughter, Karen Westberry (Vernon).

A devoted matriarch, family was always her top priority. She was the heart and soul of every family gathering, and her presence will be sorely missed by all. Margaret was an avid crafter and would spend hours scrapbooking with family pictures. She was also particularly skilled in knitting and sewing. Her hands, always busy with love, created beautiful works of art that will be cherished by her family for years to come. In addition to her crafting, Margaret found joy in reading, playing cards and indulging her sweet tooth, always with a smile on her face.

Though she is no longer with us, Margaret’s legacy of love, creativity, and family devotion will live on through her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, and all who were fortunate enough to call her family or friend. Her heart was as warm and generous as the blankets she lovingly crafted, each one a symbol of her care and dedication to family.

Visitation will be held at 1pm on Saturday, January 18, 2025 at Seawright Funeral Home 26 E. Main St., Inman, SC with a celebration of life following at 2pm.
