Margaret Bell Ballenger, 84, of Inman, South Carolina, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family, Sunday evening, November 3, 2019, at the Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home, after a long, heartbreaking struggle with dementia. Born in Moncks Corner, South Carolina on August 8, 1935, and raised in Summerville, South Carolina, she was a daughter of the late Richard "Dick" Bell and Margaret Della Scott Bell, and the loving wife of Joe William Ballenger, Jr., having celebrated sixty-five years of marriage. A beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother, she will be greatly missed. A retired employee of Springs Industries, Lyman, South Carolina, she previously worked with Hersey Products and S&S Manufacturing. Margaret was a longtime member of Inman First Baptist Church.
Surviving, in addition to her husband, are her daughters, Patricia Ballenger Horne and husband, Keith Horne; Barbara Ballenger Brady and husband, Phil; and Linda Diane Ballenger Reneau, all of Inman, South Carolina; two granddaughters, Kelli Horne Wilson and husband, Brandon, of Boone, North Carolina; Crystal Brooke Reneau Davis and husband, Scott, of Landrum, South Carolina; great-granddaughter, Sienna-Rose Wilson; step-great-granddaughter, Madison Grace Wilson; two step-great-grandsons, Reece Coleman Davis and Garrett Baxley Davis; and a nephew who was like a son, Richard Allen Bell of Austin, Texas.
In addition to her parents, she was also predeceased by a precious granddaughter, Brandy Leigh Barnette; a sister, Bertie Lee Bell Lemacks; two brothers, Richard Wharing Bell and Arthur "Ott" Bell.
Visitation will be held 1:00 PM to 1:45 PM on Wednesday, November 6, 2019, at Seawright Funeral Home in Inman, South Carolina.
Funeral Services will follow at 2:00 PM in the Seawright Funeral Home Chapel, conducted by, Dr. Paul Moore and Mr. Richard Allen Bell. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Inman, South Carolina.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Brandy Leigh Barnette Memorial Scholarship, Spartanburg County School District One, PO Box 218, Campobello, SC 29322. The family wishes to extend their sincere and heartfelt thanks to Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System Hospice for excellent supportive care during her illness. The family is at the residence.
