Louise Drake Newman, 94, of Inman, South Carolina passed away on Monday, March 25, 2024 in Liberty, South Carolina.
Born in Fletcher, North Carolina on June 9, 1929 she was a daughter of the late Mitchell Vernon Drake and Lydia Louise (Watkins) Drake and was the wife of the late James Daniel Newman.
Mrs. Newman was the oldest living member of Inman Mills Baptist Church. She was a devoted loving mother and mema. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, and being with her family.
She is survived by two sons, Michael D. Newman and his wife Judy of Columbia, South Carolina and James "Jim" Quay Newman and his wife Marie Ann of Greenville, South Carolina; two daughters, Carole Coggins and her husband Miller of North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina and Jill N. Callihan and her husband Ron of Liberty, South Carolina along with four grandchildren, Trey Camp, Bonnie Blackwell and her husband Jed, Joseph Bell and Jon Bell and his wife Ashley and two great grandchildren, Ella Bell and Drake Bell.
In addition to her parents and her husband, she was also predeceased by her three brothers, Boyce Lee Drake, Mitchell V. Drake, Jr. and George Vernon Drake and her two sisters, Lois D. Nichols and Martha D. Childress.
Visitation will be held at Inman Mills Baptist Church on Thursday, March 28, 2024 from 10:00-10:45 AM. Funeral service will follow at 11:00 AM in the church with Rev. Jack Hames officiating. Interment will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Inman, South Carolina.
