Lyman, SC---Mr. Leon Campbell, 83, of, 1199 Holly Springs Rd., Lyman went home to be with the Lord on Friday, September 24th, 2010 at the Smith Phayer Hospice Home in Landrum.

Born in Spartanburg County on December 7, 1926, he was the son of the late John "Dick" and Ellen (Plumley) Campbell and is survived by his beloved wife Ethel Lee (Settle) Campbell, having celebrated 63 years of marriage.

Mr. Campbell was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served during the European Front in WWII. He was a member of Little Mountain Baptist Church where he served in the James Berry Brown Sunday School Class and was a building contractor with the Campbell Plumley Building Contractors.

In addition to his loving wife, Ethel, he is also survived by one daughter, Patricia and her husband Rev. Rick Wall of Landrum; three sisters, Thelma Reynolds Cook of Taylors, Betty Settle Black of Greer and Margaret Campbell Raines of Lyman; three grandchildren, Leanne Wall Williams and her husband David of Taylors, Eric Wall and his wife Erin of Greer and Rebecca Wall Barbare and her husband Blake of Lyman; and six great-grandchildren, Campbell Williams, Ellen Anne Williams, Ross Williams, Ben Williams, Andrew Barbare and Pate Wall. He was predeceased by three brothers, Paul Campbell, J.C. Campbell and Theodore Campbell.

The family will receive friends Sunday, September 26, 2010 from 6-8 PM at Seawright Funeral Home.

A celebration of his life service will be held at Little Mountain Baptist Church at 2PM on Monday, September 27th, with Rev. Rick Wall, Rev. Ansel Norris, Rev. Terry Pleasant, and Rev. Sam Hammett officiating. The James Berry Brown Sunday School Class will serve as Honorary Escorts. Burial will follow in Wood Memorial Park with military honors.
