Lenna Kathryn Settle McMakin
Lenna Kathryn (Settle) McMakin, 92, of Magnolia Manor Inman passed away on March 26, 2012. She entered the presence of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and was met by her baby David Foster and beloved husband Gordon McMakin. Lenna was born in Inman on January 22, 1920, the daughter of the late Jesse Austin and Martha Blanche Bishop Settle. She was previously married to the late James Paul Foster and the late W. C. Alverson.
Lenna graduated from Inman High School in 1938 and was retired from Lyman Printing and Finishing after 30 years of service.
She is survived by three daughters: Sylvia Campbell and Lynda Morrison of Spartanburg, and Kathryn Stanfield (Raymond Kelly) of Inman; and a son Jerry A Foster of San Francisco, CA; a loving granddaughter, Jessica (Jonathan) Lawson and her daughter Addyson; devoted grandson, Ross Morrison; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews; and a special "daughter" and friend, Jennie Prince. She was preceded in death by sons-in-law Ervin Campbell and Bob Morrison; and brothers Robert (Bob), Joe Lee, and Hartwell Settle, all of Inman.
Lenna was a member of Wellford Baptist Church where she was a member of Ruth Class.
Lenna loved reading, dogs, picnics, cooking and baking, and was featured in several newspapers with her favorite recipes. She was selected Spartanburg Herald-Journal's November 1985 Cook-of-the-Month featured as "A One-Woman 'Meals on Wheels'. "
Funeral services will be held at 4:00 pm on Thursday, March 29, 2012 at Seawright Funeral Home officiated by Dr. Daniel B. Settle and Dr. Carl Poole. Interment will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the services.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made "In memory of Lenna McMakin for Penny" to Spartanburg Humane Society, 150 Dexter Rd, Spartanburg, SC 29303.
The family will be at their respective homes. The family wishes to thank the caring staff of Magnolia Manor and Spartanburg Regional Hospice.
