Laurine Diamond Smith of #2 Second Street, Inman entered into her eternal rest on November 18, 2010.

Mrs. Smith is predeceased by her husband, Charles S. Smith, Jr and a son, Charles S. Smith, III.

She was born on June 22, 1925 in Butler, Alabama, one of 9 children of Lula Diamond Hearn. The family was raised on a farm and truly lived off the land. Hard work was not a choice but a necessity for their existence.

The 5 brothers predeceasing her are: Otis Cox, Lucius Cox, Willie Clay Hearn, N. J. Diamond and Lucius Diamond all of Butler, Alabama. One sister, Elsie Diamond Anderson of Biloxi, Mississippi also predeceased Mrs. Smith. There are two living sisters- Helen Fitzpatrick of Toxey, Alabama and Margie Milstead of Linville, Alabama.

Left with the memory of a loving and self-sacrificing mother are her son, John G. Smith of the home and her daughter and son-in-law, Dianne and John Martin of 114 Martin Road, Union, SC. and a special sister-in-law, Kaye Ballenger Smith of Inman.

Grandchildren and great grandchildren: The children of Charles S. Smith, III and his wife, Kaye- Melissa Deel (Jerry) of Inman and Cindy Roberts of Greer, S. C. Melissa and Jerry's children, Ian and Alex; and Cindy's children, Taylor and Jake. The children of John G. Smith, John G. Smith, Jr (Betty Hall) of Spartanburg and Holly Foster (Jared) of Inman. Holly and Jared's children- Gabrielle and Audrey. The children of Dianne and John Martin- Joseph B. Martin(Lisa) of Union, SC and John S. Martin (Nicole) of Spartanburg. Joey and Lisa's children- Kristen and Payton. John and Nicole's children- Tyler, Hayden and Noah.
She was retired from Inman Mills and was a member of Shady Grove Pentecostal Holiness Church in Butler, Ala.

Graveside services will be held at Roselawn Cemetery in Inman Saturday, November 20 at 11 am. Rev. Benny Greene of Mon-Aetna Baptist Church Union will conduct the services.

Flowers will be accepted, or memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Research Foundation, 114 E. Earle Street, Anderson, SC 29621-5602 or a charity of one's choice. The families are at their individual homes.
