Laura Ann Belcher Odom

Following a brief illness, Mrs. Laura Ann Belcher Odom passed away at her home on Thursday, July 25, 2024. A native of Spartanburg County, SC, she was the daughter of Elias Leroy and Mabel Wingo Belcher, who preceded her in death. Mrs. Odom’s husband, Clifford C. Odom, also preceded her death. Mrs. Odom was a 1950 graduate of Inman High School, graduated from Winthrop College in 1954, and completed her Master of Education from USC-Spartanburg. She taught at Byrnes and Dorman High Schools in Spartanburg County, SC. Mrs. Odom is survived by her son, Dr. C. Brian Odom and his wife, Amee H. Odom of Wingate, NC; nephew, Todd Belcher of Inman, SC; great niece, Kristie Mann and her son Will of Inman, SC; brother, Joe Belcher (Connie) of Columbia, SC; niece, Ansley Page (Ned) and son Eli of Spartanburg, SC; nephew, Cantrell Belcher (Charsie) and sons Lockwood and Gramling of Mt. Pleasant, SC; niece, Laura Belcher of Columbia, SC; nephew, Bob Brannon (Katherine) of Kentucky; and beloved friend and neighbor Theresa Smith of Lyman, SC. The family wishes to express it thanks to Agape Care and Comfort Keepers (both of Spartanburg, SC) for their excellent care and treatment of Mrs. Odom in her final days. A private, family memorial service will be held at a later date. The family requests privacy as they grieve the loss of their matriarch. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to: Spartanburg County Public Libraries - Friends of the Library group. Seawright Funeral Home is serving the Odom family.
