Larry Victor Recknagel, 63, of 200 Stoney Road, Landrum died Thursday, June 11, 2010 at Smith Phayer Hospice House in Landrum. Born in Chicago, Ill., he was a son of Myrtle Bijella Recknagel of Spartanburg and the late Victor Recknagel. He worked in the banking industry and was a US Army veteran of the Viet Nam War era.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Susan Garvey Recknagel of the home, a son, Andrew Recknagel of Albany, NY, a daughter, Kirsten Recknagel of Chicago, Ill., a brother, Stuart Recknagel of St. George, Utah, and a sister, Karen Kyle of Montrose, Co.
Services will be announced.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to American Chestnut Foundation, 160 Zillicoa Street Suite D, Asheville, NC 28801.
