Larry Cecil McDowell

Larry Cecil McDowell, 77, passed away Thursday, September 21, 2017 at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. Mr. McDowell was born in Inman, S.C. on August 11, 1940, and was the son of the late Joseph Lamar and Almina Corn McDowell. He was the husband of Naomi Lee (Parker) McDowell and was a member of New Prospect Baptist Church. He had retired from Swift & Company and later Mapelli Brothers Food Distribution Company as a delivery truck driver with 25 years of service. After retirement he was a farmer and enjoyed collecting old tractors.
Surviving in addition to his wife, Naomi, are his two daughters, Joretta McDowell and Jennifer McDowell of Campobello, SC, a brother, Joe McDowell and his wife Ruby of Inman, SC, two sisters, Elsie Poteat and her husband Junior of Inman, SC, and Lucile Terry of Campobello, S.C. He was predeceased by two brothers: Carl McDowell and Wayne McDowell.
Graveside services will be held Sunday, September 24, 2017 at 2:00 PM in the New Prospect Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Matthew Bishop conducting the service. The family is at their respective homes.
