Laman "Sonny" Newton Davis, Jr.

Laman "Sonny" Newton Davis, Jr, 79, of Inman, South Carolina, passed away on Sunday, October 11, 2026 at his home.

Born in Modesto, California on December 16, 1946, he was the son of the late Doris Jewell (Killion) Davis and Laman Newton Davis, Sr. and was the husband of Evelyn Huggins Davis having celebrated 50 years of marriage.

Sonny served in the United States Air Force, was an accomplished musician and worked as a long haul truck driver for many years.

He loved playing music, fishing and golf.

In addition to his wife, he is also survived by his son, David Davis and his wife Angie; step-son, Terry Lynn Huggins; three sisters, Janice Shipman, Linda Jones and Sharon Tollison; two grandchildren, Luke Davis and Hannah Large and her husband Cody and one great granddaughter, Cora Large.

Graveside Services will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, October 15, 2026 at Good Shepherd Memorial Park, 4164 Hwy 9, Boiling Springs, South Carolina 29316 with Dr. Tim Clark officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the graveside.
