Mrs. Mary "Katie" Wingo
Mrs. Mary "Katie" G. Wingo, 85 passed away Saturday, May 1st, 2010 at Ashlan Village Assisted Living, Lyman, SC.
Mrs. Wingo was born in Inman, SC on January 20, 1925 the daughter of the late Richard Aiken and Dora Johnson Golightly. She was the widow of James Henry Wingo.
Katie retired from Spartanburg School District One after teaching for 38 years. Her students were her children. She attended all the class reunions. She was a member of Inman First Baptist Church. She was an active member in her church and other organizations before her health began to decline. She enjoyed traveling with her friends.
She is survived by a special aunt: Sally J Josey of Bishopville, SC, sister-in-law: Bertie Golightly, nephews: Jack and Joe Golightly, and niece: Kay Gilmer and husband Ron, great-nephews: Ron and Scott Gilmer, Mark Golightly and numerous cousins. She was predeceased by brothers Jack and Maxie and great-nephew Jody Golightly.
The family is at their respective homes and will receive friends Tuesday, May 4, 2010 from 1:00 - 2:30 PM in the Atrium of Inman First Baptist Church. Funeral services will follow in the church sanctuary at 3:00 PM conducted by Dr Paul Moore and Mr. Eddie Whitaker. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.

The family would like to thank the Spartanburg Regional Hospice Group and Dr Otis Baughman and his staff for their support. Also, Ashlan Village management and staff who were so committed in caring for her, and caretakers: Barbara J High, Brenda and Kip Josey and Jack Golightly, Jr.
