Mrs. Katherine (Horton) Mills Oxley, 80, formerly of 8571 Fairforest Rd. died Wednesday, November 17th, 2010 at Woodruff Manor.
Mrs. Oxley was born in Gramling, SC on February 13, 1930, the daughter of the late James Alfred and Maudie Frances (Turner) Horton. She was the widow of Kenneth Jack Oxley and was first married to the late Paul Irvin Mills. She attended Harvest Baptist Church and had retired from Horton's Cleaners.
Survivors include three daughters, Patsy Mills Melton and her husband Jimmy of Wellford, Shirley Crocker and her husband Earl of Columbus, NC, Frances Jackson of Spartanburg, a son Jimmy Mills and his wife Gail of Greer, SC, seven grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. She was predeceased by a daughter, Ruth Anne Mills, seven brothers, Alfred, Troy, Coy, John, Albert, Clyde, and Don Horton, five sisters, Eva Solesbee, Mary Mahaffey, Ruby Mills, Patricia Edwards, and Georgia Varner, and two grandsons, Ricky and Darrell Jackson. Mrs. Oxley was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
The family will receive friends Thursday, Nov. 18, 2010 from 7:00 to 8:30 PM at Seawright Funeral Home in Inman. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, Nov. 19, 2010 at the Seawright Funeral Chapel conducted by Rev. Tommy Turner. The burial will be in Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Spartanburg, SC. The family is at the home of Patsy and Jimmy Melton, 2340 Hampton Rd., Wellford, SC 29385.
