Julia Frankie Upton, 69, of 149 Phillips Lane, Gaffney, SC, passed away Wednesday, August 16, 2017 at her home. Julia was born in Spartanburg, SC on February 3, 1948, a daughter of the late William O and Faye (Porter) Sawyer. She was the wife of John Archie Upton, was formerly employed at Arrow Automotive and was a member of New Beginning Free Will Baptist Church in Chesnee.. In addition to her husband, Julia is survived by three sons Carl Lee Tillotson (Kim), of Spartanburg; Brian Keith Tillotson (Lisa), of Chesnee, Dennis Dwayne Upton of Spartanburg, a daughter, Kimberly Upton Green (James) of Spartanburg two brothers, Glenn Sawyer, of Columbia; William Sawyer, of Spartanburg and 9 grandchildren and one great grandson. A graveside service will be held Wednesday, August 23, 2017 at 2:00 PM at the River Hills Baptist Church Cemetery conducted by Rev. Brian Tillotson. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Salvation Army, 1529 John B White, Sr. Blvd, Spartanburg, SC 29301.
