Joseph R. "Joey" McMillin

Joseph (Joey) Radford McMillin, 67, of Inman, South Carolina, passed away on Sunday, August 30, 2026.

Born on December 19, 1958 in Spartanburg, SC to Joseph Carson McMillin and Jeanette Radford McMillin. He attended Chapman High School where he lettered in several sports and then Wofford College where he played football for the Terriers. After graduating in 1981, he became a senior system analyst for MetLife. He was a member of Inman First Baptist Church where he served as a deacon, on the finance team, and personnel team. He was dedicated to his church and serving the Lord.

Joey married Kimberly Patrice (Jackson) McMillin on June 25, 1988, and together they shared 38 wonderful years. He is survived by a son Joseph Benjamin McMillin (Caroline) and daughter Samantha McMillin Smith (Jacob). While he took great pride in his children, his heart found a new kind of joy in his grandchildren, Asher McMillin and Olivia Grace Smith.

He loved the Lord deeply and carried his faith in all he did. His faith was the foundation of his life and his love for his family was at the center of his heart. Joey showed his love through words and actions to all who crossed his path. He was a builder and fixer by nature. There was rarely a moment when he wasn’t working on a project. Constantly repairing things and finding something new to build, his hands were always busy. He took great pride in making things better and helping wherever he could.

Joey loved his family deeply. His grandchildren, Asher and Olivia Grace, held an especially precious place in his heart. They were the light of his eyes. The memories they made together will be treasured forever, and his love will continue to live on through them.

He leaves behind a legacy built not from wood, tools, or projects, but from his faith, hard work, love, and devotion to his family.

Though his hands are now still, the things he built will remain. His greatest legacy is the family he loved, the lives he touched, and the memories he leaves behind. He will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.

A celebration of life service will be held at 210 Overlake Drive Inman, SC on Sunday, September 6, 2026 at 3:00 pm. As we gather to celebrate his life, please dress comfortably and appropriately for the occasion. The celebration will be held outdoors, so we encourage light, comfortable attire suitable for the warm weather.
