Joseph “Joey” Vasco Lawson, 66, of 723 Campground Road, Spartanburg SC went home to be with the Lord on May 1, 2024. He was born in Polk County on June 10, 1957, and was the son of the late Vasco and Margaret Lawson. In addition to his wife Kathy Lawson, he is survived by a stepdaughter Cindy Solesbee (Shane Solesbee - predeceased) and his two granddaughters, Darien Waldo (Gene Waldo) and Corie Solesbee (Des Smith). He also has two great granddaughters, Julia “Gracie” Waldo, and Peyton Waldo, along with one great grandson Wyatt Waldo and another great grandchild on the way. He was predeceased by a younger sister, Debbie Lawson and a great granddaughter Shayna Rae Solesbee. He was a quiet laid back man, but to know Joey was to know love. He loved to be around his family, and he loved spending time with Kathy and her sister Karen Bailey during the day while watching his grandchildren play. Gracie will always remember “Jojo” as her best friend and someone who was always involved. Joey was retired but loved to work as a diesel mechanic in his free time. Joey had a great sense of humor and was someone you couldn’t help but to laugh and smile when around him. The family will conduct a memorial gathering on Saturday May 4, 2024, from 12:00 until 2:00 PM, located at 1090 Clark Road, Inman SC. The family will be at 1090 Clark Road, Inman SC.
