Jones Marvin Brown, 88, of 26 Gosnell Ave. died Friday, October 18th, at Ashland Village, Lyman, SC Mr. Brown was born in Glendale, S. C. on February 5, 1925, a son of the late Jones Boyce and
Elizabeth Thompson Brown and was the husband of Carolyn Morris Brown. He was first married to the late Frances Rhodes Brown. He was a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church and retired after 22 years of service in the US Navy having served in WW II, Korean & Vietnam Veteran with the rank of CPO . He was also a plant engineer at Leigh Texiles. He was a member of the Inman Masonic Lodge 201 & American Legion Post 45 and served on the Inman City Council.
Survivors include two sons, Vince Brown and his wife Diane, Sandy Brown and his wife Donna all of Inman, brother, Ballard Brown and his wife Faye of Spartanburg, three step children, Joey Johnson and his wife Brenda of Lyman, Kathy Owens and her husband Rev . Kenneth Owens of Lexington, SC and Morris Johnson and his wife Stacy of Inman.There are 9 grandchildren and 4 great grandchild ren. He was predeceased by a daughter, Debra Kent.
Graveside services will be held Sunday, Oct. 20, 2013 at 2:30 PM at Roselawn Memorial Gardens with Dr. Reggie Parker and Ballard Brown officiating with Masonic and Military Rites. A visitation will be held after the services at the home from 4:30 to 6:30 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of one's choice. The family will be at the home.
