John William Hoover, Sr.

A saved man went to live with Jesus. A WWII Marine Veteran Hero served in Okinawa, where he received his purple heart for standing in front of a Japanese bomb to protect his brothers in the trenches. For this he received shrapnel throughout his entire body. With his honorable discharge he was married on March 22, 1945 to Dorothy Louise Saltzgaber who preceded him in death.
Mr. Hoover is survived by a daughter, Candace L. Hoover Smith living in Salem, VA with her husband Terry Smith; a son, John W. Hoover Jr., living in Spartanburg, SC with his wife Karen I. Wynn Hoover; two grandsons, Mike Sanders living in Granger, IN with his wife Tracy and five great grandchildren, Robert, Zachary, and Luke Sanders plus Katy and Shad Jeffrey; the other grandson, Matthew Sanders with partner Craig Wiriek living in Edinburgh, Scotland; a brother, Don Hoover and wife Betty Lou living in Ocala, FL; and a sister, Evelyn Fogarus living in Auburn, WA. He was predeceased by a brother, Robert and a sister, Marguerite.
Graveside services will be held at the Osceola Cemetery in Osceola, Indiana on July 16; located at Ash Road and County Road 20 south of the railroad tracks.
All monetary donations should be made out to John W. Hoover, Jr. for his discretion on charities.
