John Miles Rainey, 70, of 318 Burnett Road, passed away Friday, December 11, 2020, at his residence. John was born in Houston, Texas on January 26, 1950, a son of the late Hugh Barton Rainey and Rachel Claire McDowell Rainey. He was the widower of Anne Stacia Papademetriou Rainey. John was a graduate of the University of Tennessee, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in chemical engineering, a United States Navy veteran, having served during the Vietnam War. He was a retired employee with Steel Heddle and of the Baptist faith.
John is survived by three daughters, Susan Pruett and her husband, Terry, of Inman, South Carolina; Dawn Perna and her husband, Henry, of Georgetown, Tennessee; Michelle White and her husband Mark, of Columbia, South Carolina; a brother, Thomas Rainey and his wife, Jean, of Texas; five grandchildren, Christopher Pruett, Brandon Pruett, Nicholas Pruett, Daniel Pruett and Christian Black; and three great-grandchildren, Alli Cogdill, Camdyn Pruett and Oliver Black.
In addition to his parents and spouse, Mr. Rainey was predeceased by a son, Fred Crowder.
A Memorial Service will be held 11:00 AM, Wednesday, December 16, 2020 at Seawright Funeral Chapel, conducted by, Rev. Ed Stallworth.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, PO Box 2151, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38101-2151 or to Spartanburg Regional Hospice, 120 Heywood Ave, Suite 300, Spartanburg, South Carolina, 29302.
