Inman, SC---Mr. John Richard Poland, Sr., 63, of 178 Innview Drive, Inman passed away Thursday, November 11, 2010 at his residence.
Mr. Poland was born in Skelton, West Virginia on September 28, 1947, the son of the late Clyde Franklin and Opal Belle (Brooks) Poland. He was a graduate of Woodrow Wilson H.S in Beckley, W. Virginia and was a retired long-haul truck driver. He was of the Baptist faith and served in the U.S. Army in the Vietnam War Era.
He is survived by 2 sons: John Richard Poland, Jr and wife Cathy of Inman, Steven Poland and wife Amy of Boiling Springs, 3 sisters: Loretta Edmondson of Maryland, Christine Oase of Arizona, Verna Sumpter of West Virginia, 3 grandchildren: Samantha Vorasane, Hailey Poland and John Richard "Johnny" Poland, III. He was predeceased by a grandson: Tyler Dunn and 3 brothers, Carl, Ray, and Frank Poland.
The family is at the home and will receive friends Sunday 5:00 - 6:00 PM at Seawright Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at the Seawright Funeral Chapel, Inman, SC at 6:00 PM on Sunday, November 14th, with Rev Joe Geddes officiating.
Burial will be Monday, November 15,2010 at 1:00 PM in Good Shepherd Memorial Park, Boiling Springs, SC with full military honors.
