Inman, SC--Mr. John Richard Long, 61, of 68 East Main Street, Inman passed away Friday, August 29th, 2008 at Mary Black Memorial Hospital, Spartanburg, SC, after a long illness.
Mr. Long was born in Spartanburg, SC on December 21, 1946, the son of the late Ruth (Green) Long and John Hovey Long, Jr who survives him of Spartanburg, SC.
He was the husband of Vicky (Burdette) Long.
In addition to his wife and father he is survived by 2 sons: Landon Long and wife Lezlie of Spartanburg, Kelly Long and wife Amanda of Columbia, 2 brothers: Larry Long of Boiling Springs, Lance Long and wife Kim of Cowpens, 1 sister: Vicky Renee Sanders of Columbia, 3 grandchildren: Cassie Long, Lizzie Long, and Samuel Richard Long. Mr. Long loved his wife and 2 sons and adored his 3 grandchildren.
He was formerly employed with Insulation Contractors and also worked with his son Landon in the construction business. He was a member of First Baptist Church of North Spartanburg.
A celebration of life memorial service will be held at Seawright Funeral Chapel, Inman, SC, at 3:00 PM on Sunday, August 31st, with Dr. Michael Hamlet officiating.
The family is at the home and will receive friends Sunday 2-3 PM and immediat1y following the service at Seawright Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Telling The Story - Touching The Future Building Program of First Baptist Church of North Spartanburg, 8740 Asheville Hwy, Spartanburg, SC 29316.
