John F. Helms

John F. Helms Jr., 85, died Wednesday, September 18, 2013 at Hospice of the Carolina Foothills in Landrum, SC. Mr. Helms was born on August 27, 1928 in Charlotte, NC and was the son of the late John F. Helms, Sr. and Ethel Watts Helms. He was the widower of the late Bernice MIlls Helms. He had been a resident in Magnolia Manor of Inman before being admitted to the hospice facility. He worked as a greeter at K Mart in Charlotte, NC and was of the baptist faith., Mr. Helms also served his country in WW II in the US Airforce and received his Honorable Discharge on April 30, 1949 at Good Fellow Air Force Base in Texas.
He is survived by his brother, James R. Helms of Inman, SC.and was predeceased by a brother, Willie Helms and a sister Mabel Price.
A graveside memorial service will be planned for a later date. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his memory to: Hospice of the Carolina Foothills, 130 Forest Glen Drive, Columbus, NC 28722.
