John Jackson "Jack" Donnahoo, 90, of 139 Inn View Drive Inman, passed away Saturday, June 20th, at Regional Hospice Home in Spartanburg.
Jack was born in Inman on December 3, 1924, a son of the late William M. and Minnie Lee Gowan Donnahoo and was the widower of Cora Jeannette Rhodes Donnahoo.
He was a member of Holly Springs Baptist Church where he was also a member of the Sanctuary Sunday School Class. Jack was also a member of American Legion Post #45 in Inman and a lifetime member of Inman Masonic Lodge # 201. He honorably served our country in the US Army during WWII receiving the EAMET Campaign Medal with 5 bronze stars after serving in Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, Ardennes, and Central Europe as a radar technician with the Company D 555th Signal Aircraft Warning Battalion. After he completed school, with perfect attendance, and fulfilled his military obligation, Jack began working at Inman Mills; which allowed him, as a member of The 4th Street Gang, to play baseball in the textile league. He later worked and retired from International Wire in Inman.
Jack is survived by a daughter, Jan, wife of Frankie Nodine, of Inman; a son, Jackie Donnahoo, of Inman, one granddaughter; Angie Davis and her husband Dave of Inman, and two great grandchildren; Hannah McAntyre and Luke Davis, both of Inman. In addition to his wife and parents, he was predeceased by a brother; Bill Donahoo.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 23, 2015 at 11:00 am at Seawright Funeral Home conducted by Rev. Henry Stanford. Private entombment will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. The family is at the home of Jan and Frankie Nodine at 1141 Ballenger Road and will receive friends at Seawright Funeral Home following the service Tuesday morning.
