Joel (Bill) William Bridges

Joel William (Bill) Bridges, Jr, 73, of Boiling Springs, SC, passed away Wednesday, August 19, 2026, at his home.

Bill was born in Greer, SC on January 13, 1953, a son of the late Margie Elizabeth (Shipman) and Joel William Bridges, Sr. He was the husband of Cheryl Dawn (Laughlin) Bridges who just celebrated 55 years of marriage. He is survived by four sons, Joel Bridges III (Brandi), Adam Bridges, Jason Bridges, and Stephen Bridges (Jaclyn); Seven grandchildren: Noah Bridges, Abigayle Lipinski (Jake), Rachel Bridges-McCray (Rodney), Clover Bridges, Maggie Bridges, Jackson Bridges and Sylvia Bridges and Five great grandchildren; Scarlett Bridges-McCray, Aurora Bridges, Brynnleigh Lipinski, Ophelia Bridges-McCray, Declan Lipinski.

Bill was a chemist at Milliken for many years, he was also a paramedic and Rescue Captain with Whitney Fire and Rescue, and a member of the county Hazmat team. He was a private pilot and a squadron commander of the Spartanburg Civil Air Patrol. Bill loved sports in his younger days. He raced stock cars, and was an avid fan of Clemson Tigers and Buffalo Bills Football and Atlanta Braves Baseball. Bill enjoyed going to trivia and taking his wife to see Peter Noone in concert.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
