Mr. Joe Allen Richey, 74 of 209 High Drive, Spartanburg passed away Saturday, May 24th, 2008 at Spartanburg Hospital For Restorative Care
Mr. Richey was born in Honea Path, SC on April 17, 1934, the son of the late Jesse C. Richey and Mary Louise Campbell Richey who survives him of lva and was the husband of Janice Hall Richey.
Mr. Richey loved his family, work, fishing, and whittling.
In addition to his wife and mother he is survived by one daughter; Janna Richey Lee and husband William, Jr. of Simpsonville, two sons; Joe Allen Richey, Jr. of Union, Jonathan Scott Richey and wife Amy F. of Chesnee, two sisters; Nancy McConnell of Columbia, Kathy Seawright of Donalds, four grandchildren; Jamella Lee, Juliana Lee, Jon Foster Richey and Olivia Hope Richey. He was predeceased by a sister, Christine Richey.
He was employed at Sloan Construction for over 50 years only taking a two year absence while he served his country in the US Army. He was a member of Mitchell Memorial Wesleyan Church and attended Pelham Road Baptist Church
Funeral services will be held at Seawright Funeral Chapel in Inman at 11 :00 AM on Monday, May 26th, conducted by Rev. Don Horton. The family is at their respective homes and will receive friends Monday 10-11:00 a.m. at Seawright Funeral Home. The family will also receive friends from 2-3:00 p.m. at Keowee Baptist Church in Honea Path with a gravside service in the church cemetery to follow at 3:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Restoration Fellowship International, for the Makura Tribe, C/O Janna Lee, 112 Pond Terrace Lane Simpsonville, SC 29681.
