Mr. Joe Ross Parris, 71, of 1428 New Cut Road died Monday, September 20th, 2010 at his home.
Mr. Parris was born in Chesnee on July 22, 1939, the son of the late Hoyt Dean and Annie Sue Hollifield Parris and was the husband of Mary Jane Case Parris, with them celebrating 52 years of marriage.
He was ordained as a deacon at Arrowood Baptist Church and had served as a deacon at Boiling Springs First Baptist Church where he was presently a member. He was the co-owner of McCreary County Hardwoods in Pine Knot, Kentucky and a veteran of the-US Army.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Todd Parris and his wife Shana of Inman, a daughter, Tammy Murrell and her husband Chris of Greenville, a sister, Jewell Shields and her husband Bill of Chesnee, a sister in law, Hazel Parris of Chesnee, and three grandchildren, Logan and Ross Parris and Cade Murrell. He was predeceased by a brother, Harold D. Parris.
The family is at the home and will receive friends Thursday 10-11:OOam at Boiling Springs First Baptist Church. Funeral services will be held at 11:OOam, Thursday, September 23, 2010 at Boiling Springs First Baptist Church conducted by Dr. Hank Williams, Jr., Rev. Tim Hackett, and Dr. Ronald Vaughan. Burial will follow in Boiling Springs Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to Interim Healthcare Hospice, 775 Spartan Boulevard, Spartanburg, SC 29301.
