Joseph Richard "Joe" Golightly, I, 66, of 537 Seacrest Drive, Inman, passed away Friday, May 17th, at Mary Black Memorial Hospital.
Joe was born in Inman on March 16, 1947, a son of Bertie Mae Lewis Golightly, of Inman and the late Jack Otto Golightly, Sr.
He worked as a car salesman for over 50 years at Golightly Brothers Used Cars and later at Joe Golightly Used Cars and several other dealerships where he sold new and used automobiles. He was a member of Motlow Creek Baptist Church, Inman Masonic Lodge # 201 and the Hejaz Shrine Temple.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by a brother, Jackie Golightly of Inman; a sister, Kay Gilmer (Ron) of Brevard, NC; a grandson, Logan Golightly of Spartanburg; three nephews, Mark Golightly (Shannon) of Rock Hill, Rev. Dr. Ron Gilmer of Atlanta, Rev. Scott Gilmer of Boiling Springs; a great niece, Lydia Gilmer of Atlanta; two great nephews, Aiken and Griffin Golightly of Rock Hill; a special aunt, Vavaneen Lewis of Lexington, NC; and two special cousins, Judy and John Hench of Lexington, NC. In addition to his father, he was predeceased by a son, Jody Golightly.
The family is at the home of his nephew Rev. Scott Gilmer at 312 Spring Creek Drive, Boiling Springs and will receive friends Monday 5-8:00 PM at Seawright Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at Inman Mills Baptist Church at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, May 21st, with Rev. Dr. Ron Gilmer and Rev. Scott Gilmer officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens with Masonic Rites performed.
