Jessie Beatrice Johnson, 96, formerly of 260 Settle Drive, Inman, SC, passed away Tuesday, March 28, 2017 at Inverness Assisted Living in Spartanburg. Jessie was born in Campobello, SC on August 25, 1920, a daughter of the late William Oscar and Etta Mae (Johnson) Burrell. She was the widow of Ernest "Skinny" Johnson, was retired from Lyman Printing and Finishing and was a member of Jackson Memorial Baptist Church in Campobello. She served in the U.S. Army (WAAC) in WW II and was a member of the Inman American Legion Post #45 Women's Auxiliary. Jessie is survived by a daughter, Dianne Lawson, of Campobello; a son, James "Rat" Johnson, of Inman; a sister, Eunice Burrell Gowan, of Inman, four grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. The family is at their respective homes and will receive friends at Dependent Baptist Church Friday following the graveside service. A graveside service will be held at Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Inman, SC, at 11:00 AM on Friday, March 31st, with Dr. Joe Geddes and Rev Michael Owenby officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Dependent Baptist church, 761 Windmill Hill Road, Inman, SC 29349 or Jackson Memorial Baptist Church, 8925 Hwy 11, Campobello, SC 29322.
