Jessie Thompson Blackwell, 99, of Spartanburg, SC, passed away Tuesday, September 14, 2021 at Mountainview Nursing Home.
Jessie was born in Spartanburg, SC on April 5, 1922, a daughter of the late Margaret (Green) and William Wesley Thompson. She was the widow of David W Blackwell.
Mrs. Blackwell is survived by her children, Jean Petty West (James F.) of Spartanburg, South Carolina; and David Bruce Blackwell of Orlando, Florida. She is also survived by Grandchildren; Donna W. Copeland, Debra W. Sherbert, Dina W. Wilson, Deirdra W. Carlisle, Billy Buckner, Buffy S. Johnson, Taylor Blackwell, Wesley Blackwell,Christina Baird; twenty three Great Grandchildren; four Great-Great Grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Blackwell was predeceased by her children, Marsha Petty Buckner, and Iris Blackwell Baird; sisters, Pearl T. Quinn, and Margaret T. Foster; brothers, Walter B. Thompson, William W. Thompson II, Harold F. Thompson, and Grover L. Thompson.
She was a retired seamstress with Raycord Mills, and was a member of Jackson Memorial Baptist Church.
