Jesse Defate "J.D." Greene, 71, passed away Friday, September 22, 2017 at his residence. J.D. was born in Spartanburg, South Carolina on December 6, 1945, a son of the late Clyde Vance Green, Sr, and Elizabeth Bishop Green. He was the husband of Vernia Wirchball Greene. Mr. Greene was of the Baptist faith, a United States Navy Veteran having served during the Vietnam War on the USS Forrestal and the USS Ranger. J.D. was a retired employee of Springs Industries having worked there for over thirty five years and was currently employed with Boiler Tube of America. In addition to his wife, Mr. Greene is survived by two daughters, Andrea Burton and her husband, Daniel , of Inman, South Carolina; Lee Terry and her husband, Scott, of Campobello, South Carolina; a son, Jonathan Greene and his wife, Leah, of Inman, South Carolina; three sisters, Nona Weir and her husband, Bob; Diane Green Gerdts; Martha Scruggs and her husband, Randy; three brothers, Walter Green and his wife, Teresa; David Green and his wife Joan; Vance Green and his wife, Linda; six grandchildren, Jonah Terry, Micah Terry, Jesse Burton, Savanna Burton, Bennett Greene, Ava Greene; mother-in-law, Flora Pierce; two sisters-in-law, Martha Sue Pruitt and her husband, Julian; Wanda Sherbert and her husband, Terry; two brothers-in-law, Edmond Wirchball and his wife, Trudy; Eddie Wirchball and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held Monday, September 25, 2017 from 1:00 PM until 2:45 PM at Seawright Funeral Home. Funeral Services will follow at Seawright Funeral Chapel at 3:00 PM on Monday, September 25, 2017, conducted by Rev. Walter Milton. Burial with military honors will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Inman, South Carolina.
