Jennie Leigh Johnson, 59, of Gramling, South Carolina, passed away Monday, September 6, 2021, at Mary Black Memorial Hospital in Spartanburg, South Carolina. Jennie was born in Spartanburg, South Carolina, on September 6, 1962, a daughter of Cora Lee (Chapman) Whitfield, of New Prospect, South Carolina and the late Marcus Earl Johnson. She was of the Baptist faith, and was an employee with the United States Postal Service, working in the Gramling Post Office. She always had time for a friendly conversation. She was exceptionally generous and kind to friends and strangers alike. She loved her family, pets and gardening. Jennie was truly a unique person, who will be remembered by all for brightening their lives.
In addition to her mother, Jennie is survived by two sons, Michael McKelvey and his wife, Samatha, of Chesnee, South Carolina; Roy Andrew McKelvey, of Spartanburg, South Carolina; two grandchildren, Leland and Cora Lynn McKelvey; a sister, Paula Johnson Ruehling, of Savannah, Georgia; and a brother, Robbie Johnson, of Saluda, North Carolina; and a special friend, Dwayne Scruggs and his son Jordan.
In addition to her father, Mrs. Johnson was predeceased by a brother, Mark Johnson.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, September 15, 2021, at Seawright Funeral Home in Inman, South Carolina, conducted by, Revs. Everett Chapman and Heyward Calvert. Visitation will immediately follow the service at the funeral home.
