Jean Kirby Belcher, 97, of 581 Newberry Highway, Saluda, SC, and formerly of Asheville Highway in Spartanburg, passed away Thursday, November 19, 2020 at Saluda Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Jean was born in Greenville on December 28, 1922, a daughter of the late Amanda Campbell Kirby and Andy Murphy Kirby. She was the widow of James Payton Belcher who died in 1979.
She retired from Spartanburg County District Two Schools where she served many local children their meals in the lunchrooms of John Dodd and Hendrix Elementary Schools, and was a member of First Baptist Church of North Spartanburg.
Survivors include a daughter, Peggy Jones and her husband, Dawson of Cayce, SC, four grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, and five great, great grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, Jean was also predeceased by two daughters; Judy Hall and Kay Belcher; and two brothers; Larry Kirby and Otis Kirby.
The family will receive friends 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM on Sunday, November 22nd at Seawright Funeral Home in Inman.
Graveside Services will be held at 3:00 PM on Sunday, November 22nd at First Baptist Church of North Spartanburg with Rev. Wayne Smith officiating.
