James (Jim) Earl Trammell passed away peacefully into the arms of the Lord on Saturday, October 15, 2022, after a long illness.
Born in Durham, NC on January 20, 1938, growing up on a tobacco farm, he was used to hard work. He made a name for himself starting his own business “Trammell Manufacturing” in Spartanburg, SC. His storage buildings and carports were well known all over the upstate for their quality.
Spartanburg is where he met the love of his life Carol J. Trammell and through Carol inherited two daughters, Gay Johnson (predeceased him in death) and Sheryl Schwendeler (Phil). They were “his girls” and he loved them as his own. From those daughters he also inherited two grandsons, Justin Johnson (Johnna) and Benjamin Settle (Sonya). As well as two great-grandchildren Ryker Johnson and Makayla Crain.
After retiring, he enhanced his hobby of fishing by opening The Fish & Tackle Warehouse at Anderson Jockey Lot. He and Carol also traveled to fishing shows in various states. He and Carol enjoyed traveling, meeting new people, and especially camping. Not to mention, telling tall fish tales with his fishing buddies.
He was of the Baptist faith and a member of Cross Hill First Baptist Church in Cross Hill, SC. A memorial service will be held at the church on Friday, October 28th @ 2:00 PM; receiving of friends prior at 1:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Cross Hill First Baptist Church, 761 N. Main Street, Cross Hill, SC 29332 or Hospice of Laurens County, 1304 Springdale Drive, Clinton, SC 29325.
