James Stephen "Steve" Thornton

James Stephen (Steve) Thornton, 59, of Lyman, South Carolina, passed away on Saturday, January 10, 2026.

Born in Florence, South Carolina, on March 7, 1966, he was the son of the late Jesse Thornton and Margaret Juanita (Harmon) Thornton of Lyman, South Carolina.

Steve worked as an EMT and loved being a volunteer with the Una Fire Department and Westview-Fairforest Fire Department.

In addition to his mother, he is also survived by his sister, Wanda Jones and her husband Scott of Inman, South Carolina; niece, Kayla Hayes and her husband Matthew; nephew, Tyler Jones and two very special people in his life, Teresa Thornton and Jewel Fant.

A graveside service will be held at Motlow Creek Baptist Church Cemetery in Campobello, South Carolina at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, January 14, 2026 with Rev. Gary Hensley officiating.
