James Larry Settle, 78, of 605 Hickory Hollow Road, Inman, SC, passed away Thursday, January 1, 2015 at the Smith Phayer Hospice House in Landrum. Larry was born in Inman, SC on December 28, 1936, son of the late John Hartwell and Oleta (Powell) Settle. He was the husband of Dorothy Metcalf Settle. He retired from Milliken as a truck driver having logged over three million safe miles over a 46 year career. In 1997, he was inducted into the Truck Drivers Hall of Fame in San Antonio Texas. He was a member of Inman First Baptist church where he was a member of the Goodwill Sunday School class. He served in the U.S. Air Force and was also a member of the Inman Masonic Lodge #201 and a Shriner. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons Randy Settle (Julie), of Inman; Rodney Settle (Deborah), of Inman; a sister, Becky S. Campbell (Edward), of Clinton, SC, four grandchildren, Kyle Settle (Jen), Ryan Settle (Ashley), Clay Settle (Tory), Ben Settle, three great grandchildren, Kinsley Settle, Wyatt Settle and Avery Grace Settle. He was predeceased by a sister, Martha Settle Cantrell (Travis). The familiy is at the home and will receive friends Saturday 1:00 - 2:00 PM at Inman First Baptist Church Atrium. Funeral Services will be held at Inman First Baptist Church, at 2:00 PM on Saturday, January 3rd, with Dr. Paul Moore and Dr. Richard Dillingham officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Carolina Foothills, 130 Forest Glen Drive, Columbus, NC 28722 or Alzheimer's Association, SC Chapter, 4124 Clemson Blvd., Suite L, Anderson, SC 29621.
