Mr. James Milton Powell, 98 of 6 Stone Street, Inman, SC died Saturday, June 12th, 2010 at Regional Hospice Home in Spartanburg.

Mr. Powell was born in Spartanburg on May 3, 1912 the son of the late Bookter and Laura Hightower Powell. He was the widower of Margaret Lee Ingle Powell.

He retired from textiles and was a member of Holston Creek Baptist Church where he served as the church custodian, served on the cemetery committee, was a member of the Senior Sunday School class, and the "Keen Club" senior citizen's group.
Survivors include a daughter, Jeanette P. Whitmire and husband Boyce of Hendersonville, NC, four sisters, Lila Maude Suddeth of Cherokee Springs, Madge Reid, Minnie Lee Ravan, and Ila Pace all of Inman, two grandchildren: Gary Turner and wife Pat of Landrum, Dena Cosgrove and husband Jeff of Hendersonville, four great-grandchildren: Cassie Cosgrove of Brooklyn, NY, Kara Cosgrove of Hyde Park, NY, Jake Cosgrove of Hendersonville, NC and Amy Turner of Charleston, SC.

The family is at the home and will receive friends Tuesday one hour and a half before the funeral service at Holston Creek Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 15,2010 at 3:00 PM at Holston Creek Baptist Church with Dr. Reggie Parker and Rev. Donnan Lawson officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.

The family request that flowers be omitted and memorial contributions be made to Regional Hospice Home, 686 Jeff Davis Dr., Spartanburg, SC 29303
