Inman, SC
James Daniel (JD) Newman, 93, of 12 Dallas St. passed away Tuesday, June 21, 2016 at his home. Mr. Newman was born in Inman, SC on September 10, 1922 and was a son of the late William Quay Newman and Eva Irene Harris Newman Ballew. James was the beloved husband of Louise (Drake) Newman and had celebrated over 68 years of marriage. Mr. Newman had retired from Liberty Life Insurance Company after 36 years of service. He also was a longtime member of Inman Mills Baptist Church and was a WW II Army Veteran. While serving his country, he participated in several key battles including The Battle of the Bulge and Normandy. He receive numerous medals including three bronze stars, the Purple Heart and several others while serving as an Army Surgical Tech.
Surviving in addition to his wife Louise are two sons, Michael D. Newman and his wife Judy of Columbia, SC, James Quay (Jim) Newman and his wife Marie Ann of Greenville, SC, two daughters, Carole N, Coggins and her husband Miller of Charleston, SC, Jill N. Johnson and her husband Gettys (Junior) of Inman, SC, four grandchildren, William R. (Trey) Camp, III. of Roebuck, SC, Bonnie Camp Blackwell and husband Jed of Roebuck, SC, Joseph Bell of Gramling, SC, Jon Bell and wife Ashley of Inman, SC and a great granddaughter, Ella Brice Bell. Mr. Newman was predeceased by two brothers, William Francis Newman and Lewis Allen Newman.
The family will receive friends Friday, June 24, 2016 at Seawright Funeral Home in Inman, SC from 11:00 AM to 12:00 Noon. The funeral services will follow in the chapel conducted by Rev. Jack Hames. Interment will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Inman, SC. The family will be at the home.
