James Edward McDowell

James Edward "Bud" McDowell, 87, of 411 Sugar Ridge Road in Inman, passed away Monday, April 21, 2025 at Union Post Acute.

James was born in Spartanburg on August 10, 1937, a son of the late Frances Christopher McDowell and James D. McDowell, and was the widower of Margaret Harvey McDowell.

He was the retired owner of McDowell Furniture in Inman, and was a member of Boiling Springs First Baptist Church. He was also a longtime member of The Boiling Springs Business Association.

Survivors include two daughters, Helga Longino (Tony) of Pelzer, SC, Gloria Clardy (Chris Patrie) of Inman, a son, James Clardy of Gray Court, SC, four brothers, Billy McDowell of Inman, Terry McDowell (CeCe) of Inman, Johnny McDowell of Spartanburg, Jerry McDowell (Linda) of Inman, two sisters, Mary Padgett Hall (Tom) of Boiling Springs, SC, Joyce McDowell Wright (Dick) of Spartanburg, 2 grandsons, Christopher Longino (Misty) Craig Longino (Julianne) and a number of nieces and nephews. He was also predeceased by a brother, Tommy McDowell, two sisters, Wilma Kate McDowell Barnett, Brenda Sue McDowell, and a sister-in-law, Linda McDowell.

The family is at 429 Sugar Ridge Road in Inman and will receive friends 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM on Friday, April 25th at Seawright Funeral Home in Inman.

Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 PM on Friday, April 25th at Seawright Funeral Home with Dr. David Boyter and Mr. Jerry Bridges officiating.   Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Inman.
