James (Jim) Arlington Maxwell


Inman, SC---Jim Maxwell met his Lord Jesus on Saturday, August 22, 2009. Born August 11, 1924, in Bonners Ferry, Idaho, he was the son of Mr. and Mrs. E. C. Maxwell. He was predeceased by his wife Ellen Maxwell. Jim was a pilot and pilot trainer in World War II. He worked 45 years for Baxter Laboratories and was plant manager for the Kingstree, SC facility. In 1977, Jim became Assistant to the Vice President - Medical Products for Baxter. During his career he served on the Williamsburg County Development Board and was President of the Kingstree Kiwanis Club.

In addition to a rewarding career, Jim loved his family: daughter Jo Ellen Cantrell (husband, Johnny); his grandchildren, David Cantrell (wife, Heather), Sgt.Chris Cantrell; his great grand-daughter, Grace Cantrell; and brother-in-law, Ed Prisock (wife, Edna Joy, children Jessica and Robert).

Jim was a member of the Inman United Methodist Church where he taught Sunday school and served in other administrative capacities. He has also been a member of the United Methodist Church of the Covenant in Spartanburg, SC.

The family would like to thank all of Jim's friends at Windsor House, White Oak Manor, and Skylyn Place for their loving care during the past three years. A special thanks to Alice Norris for her friendship, care and love for Jim and to Tom Brandon for his many visits with Jim over the years.

The family requests in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the general fund of the United Methodist Church of the Covenant, 9020 Asheville Hwy, Spartanburg, SC 29316.

Graveside funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, August 28, 2009 at Roselawn Memorial Gardens conducted by Rev Phil Stout and Rev Charlie Barrett.

The family is at the home of Jo Ellen and Johnny Cantrell, 17 Angela Circle, Inman, SC 29349 and will receive friends at Roselawn Memorial Gardens immediately following the service.
